Thanks for your comment, Sion.

Yes, in fact, I'm working on an update to LifeList-Birds that will accommodate database additions. First, however, I must complete a new LifeList App for recording sites that you have seen (e.g., Abu Simbel, Paris, Angel Falls, etc.). When this new LifeList App is completed, the LifeList-Birds App will be updated. BTW, the LifeList-Birds update will be available as a FREE update to all LifeList-Birds owners.

So, stay tuned,

Dave P.

Hi
Do you think the app will ever be able to have a self created list so it can be used for any country's birds and not only USA

Cheers

Thank you for your comment, Stacey.

I am truly sorry to learn about the App crashing during data input. I can sympathize with your possible frustration and irritation caused by this loss. You raised three issues in your comment, however, that I would like to address:

1. OS Version number. I have been testing the App on ALL major OS 3.x versions and have failed to unearth any problems related to these newer operating systems. In fact, I am currently using OS 3.1.3 without any observed problems, errors, or crashes.
2. App crashing. While your experience clearly indicates otherwise, I have never been able to make the App crash during all of my testing. I will keep exploring this issue and post my findings on this Web site.
3. App won't open. My best guess here is that when the App crashed it corrupted the LifeList-Birds database. Therefore, you can't (re)open the App because errors inside the database cause the App to close. The fastest solution to this problem is the ugliest -- delete the App from your iPod touch and reload it via iTunes. Please note that this action will delete all of your previous database entries. In other words, you will be starting over with an empty Life List.

Please note: when an App crashes you can choose to send a problem report directly to me. Here is the information from an Apple Technical Report TN2151:

When the user synchronizes their device using iTunes, crash reports are copied to a directory on the user's computer. If the application was distributed via the App Store and the user has chosen to submit crash logs to Apple, the crash log will be uploaded and the developer can download it via iTunes Connect.

Again, I am sorry for your difficulty with my App and you can be assured that I will do everything I can to resolve these issues.

Hi Dave, I was loving putting in my lifers until the app crashed. I can no longer open it. In looking for help, I noticed that it is for a 2nd generation ipod, I have a 3rd generation. Did not notice that when I purchased on i-tunes. I was wondering if there is a way I can use the app anyway? Using windows 2 xp, thanks

Thanks, Jessi. I am currently designing a new life list App that will feature GPS coordinates, image inclusion, adding new life list entries, a search feature, and the ability to e-mail a life list accomplishment to a friend. Stay tuned for more information as development continues.

Hi there,

Just got your LifeList-Birds app and I LOVE it!! It is the best life list app available on the iTouch, I can't believe it took someone so long to make such a good one. I am an avid birder and I can tell you that the ability to have a trip list in addition to the life list is a wonderful thing. I was wondering if you could add that feature, and then have it notify you that you have added a bird to your trip list that you haven't seen in your life list, and then have it add the information automatically to the life list. That would make your app the best ever!

Thanks for the time and energy to make the app, I can't wait to see what other lifelists you put out there!
